is Japanese for universal life energy.

It’s a word used to describe a system of natural healing.

This tradition was founded in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century evolving through his experience and dedication.

Practitioners tap into this life energy. It reinforces the body’s natural ability to heal itself on all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. People who receive reiki describe it as calming and relaxing, useful for stress-related problems, acute injury and surgery. There are several ways reiki is given. Clothed, seated in a chair or lying down. The practitioner places hands on or just above the body. Sensations of heat, tingling, or seeing colours may be experienced. Others may have an emotional response, indicating there may have been a shift, allowing harmony to be restored.
